"Black is King" is now streaming on Disney+.
Beyoncé's newest release is a stunning visual album full of songs, dance, fashion, and breathtaking scenery.
Beyoncé continues her push toward equality with the release of her visual album "Black is King" which explores the beauty of blackness that is at best undervalued and at worst discriminated against.
Production on "Black is King" started one year ago as a companion piece to "The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack, which Beyoncé produced after starring as Nala in the 2019 Disney remake.
The real star of the visual film, however, is the raw, untapped talent from performers around the world showcasing their rich tradition and culture, history and lineage.
"Black is King" serves as an ode to Pan-African culture. It taps into the often-overlooked Afrobeats genre and puts the spotlight on less mainstream superstars like Wizkid and Shatta Wale while employing popular African dances like the gbese, gwara and zanku.
Beyoncé's new visual album has taken on new meaning following the reemergence of the Black Lives Matter movement and the fight against police brutality and racism.
To watch 'Black Is King' you will need to subscribe to Disney+ for $6.99 a month or $69.99 per year. Or you can get the service as part of a special value bundle with ESPN+ and Hulu for $12.99 a month in total.
Disney+ is supported on desktop browsers, a wide range of mobile devices, smart TVs, and game consoles.
