DIYs are fun, and if you're looking for a custom lotion recipe, then you're at the right place.
A basic lotion needs 3 ingredients; oil, water, and emulsifier.
Lotions are typically 70% water, 20% oil,and 10% emulsifier.
To make a DIY lotion, you will need the following equipment;
thermometer, hand-held blender, 2 glass measuring cups, tablespoon, teaspoon, plastic condiment bottle or funnel, and 4-ounce pump bottle (preferably glass).
In order for a lotion to deliver moisture, the water is meant to be suspended in oil so that it can penetrate the skin.
If you need more healing than moisturizing, then coconut oil might be the best choice for you.
Other nourishing oils to consider are Sweet Almond Oil, Hazelnut Oil, and Jojoba.
Butters also fall into the oil category as well, which makes for a lovely, rich lotion.
