Nicki Minaj notches historic Billboard debut ahead of co-hosting MTV Video Music Awards.
Nicki Minaj is the first solo female rap track to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 since Ms. Lauryn Hill, “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
After releasing 121 singles in the last 12 years, Nicki Minaj has set a new chart record in the US.
“Super Freaky Girl” is Minaj’s third No. 1 single and her first without accompaniment. According to Billboard, this song has been streamed 21.1 million times. It also garners 4.6 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 89,000 digital downloads in its first week.
There is only been a handful of female rappers who have topped the Billboard Hot 100 since Ms. Lauryn Hill. Some of those rappers include Megan Thee Stallion, Iggy Azalea, and Cardi B.

Nicki Minaj is back for the VMAs On August 28 and will perform live at the 2022 show for the first time in four years.
Nicki is due to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this weekend's MTV Awards, where she will also co-host and perform.
The award is presented to artists for their outstanding contributions and profound impact on music video and popular culture.
