The 25-year-old Houston-born star Megan Thee Stallion returned to the stage on Saturday, Aug. 26 just six weeks after she was shot in both feet in Los Angeles, on July 12.
Megan Thee Stallion danced & twerked for the first time since being shot and performed to her song ‘Freak Nasty' in a virtually produced concert for Jay Z‘s streaming platform Tidal and she didn’t skip a beat.
Megan Thee Stallion looked incredible and her first performance with what appears to be 4″ heels was impressive given the concert was just six weeks after she was shot and she had to have the bullets surgically removed.
During her concert, Megan paused right before her signature hit song “Hot Girl Summer” for a moving tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement. The names of Tamir Rice, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Jacob Blake, and many others who’ve tragically lost their lives to police violence flashed across the screen as Megan’s dancers stood with their fists to the air, and on a second slide, it said: "Why is it so hard being Black in America?".
On July 15th, Megan Thee Stallion made a post on her Instagram account talking about how she had suffered from gunshot wounds as a result of a crime that was committed against her with the intention to physically harm her. Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, 28, was arrested after the incident for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
Megan Thee Stallion once again spoke about the incident on July 17th and wrote on her Twitter account the following:
It has been a very traumatizing incident for Megan Thee Stallion, we are just glad to see her healing well and being back to the stage soon after her gunshot wounds.
